DIY: The Picture Frames
After purchasing some digital downloads from Etsy, I began searching for the perfect frames for them. I wanted large, vintage frames (real ugly ones) in black and gold. Since the tv stands in the living room were going to be very modern, I wanted to take the opportunity to bring in some vintage with the frames. Did you know chunky, baroque-style frames are expensive?! Well, I figured it out pretty quickly. And in typical Raya-fashion, I decided I could make some pretty easily.
On a trip to Ikea, I found two frames that were the perfect size to fit the prints. I purchased two and got to thinking on how I could chunk these guys up a little bit. I wandered the lumber section in Lowes and spotted some trim pieces that were PERFECT!
Too boring, right?
All I had to do next was cut the trim down, spray paint it black, and glue & nail it into place on the outside of the existing frames. Oh - and then add the gold touches!
Ta-da!
The extra time I took to add some bulk and gold detail to these frames makes all the difference! Looking at them now, you’d never know they were simple Ikea frames. And they totally balance out the modern tv stands!
